Gospel Rock Panorama - Gibsons Landing, Sunshine Coast, BC, Canada

This epic view from Gospel Rock was the highlight of my visit to Gibsons Landing on BC's sunshine coast. A local told us the name comes from the days of pirate ships, which found shelter in this harbor. The local pastor would preach the gospel from this rock before blessing the pirate ships as they headed out to sea. I'm not sure if this is true, but it makes a good story. As a side note, if you're ever at the seaside village of Gibsons Landing and want to find Gospel Rock, don't follow the trail marked on the map as going to Gospel Rock. That's a false gospel that will lead you down the wrong path. We got lost following this trail. Follow the main road towards the west instead and you'll see the rock outcropping on the coastal side of the road at a turn in the road. Oh, and don't keep calling it Preacher's Rock like I did.Technical photo details: The full-size image is about 40 megapixels (8,174 x 4,815 pixels), combined from 4 photos, each processed from 3 exposures as an HDR in Photomatix before merging into this panorama in Photoshop CS4. Then some dodging & burning, curves, and other minor adjustments were made.
